Waldschach Fish Hatchery does not only run a successful fish production business, but we have been owner of the second largest bathing lake of the Austrian province of Styria for the past 25 years. Due to our long experience we now help reconstruct and clean lakes and ponds all over Europe by using biological control strategies that fit your individual pond needs and are based on a proper stocking of weed maintaining fish.
When lakes become overgrown with nuisance weeds and algae, this is normally due to an accumulation of organic and inorganic nutrients in surface and ground waters, in combination with their exposure to the sunlight. With a proper stocking of Silver Amur (hypophthalmichthys molitrix), which filters nuisance algae out of the water with his gills, and Grass Carp (ctenopharynpodon idella) that feeds any type of vegetation, Waldschach Fish Hatchery has been able to repair many lakes and ponds from a surface of 100 m2 to 120 ha.

Further, Waldschach Fish Hatchery rears Black Amur, which feeds snails and mussels and is therefore the perfect fish to stop the spreading of duck bilharziosis, a water related type of dermatosis. While the snail as the intermediate host is eaten up by the Black Amur, the cycle is interrupted and the spreading of the itching duck bilharziosis is therefore stopped.
